We provide school uniforms and coats to underserved elementary students
Clothes & Coats for Cuties provides school uniforms and coats to underserved students in the Cloverleaf and surrounding communities. We partner with the counselors at Cloverleaf Elementary and - both new this year - Green Valley Elementary and Woodland Acres Elementary. The needs of the students are determined and a list of sizes is provided to us by the school counselor. This gives us the opportunity to purchase uniforms and coats for those students. We are very excited about the addition of Green Valley and Woodland Acres this year.
Cloverleaf Elementary School, Green Valley and Woodland Acres are 100% free lunch schools. Most elementary schools in this district are 75 to 91% free lunch schools. Galena Park ISD is a Title 1 district, which means that there are federally funded programs to enable schools with the highest concentrations of poverty to meet their students’ educational needs. To meet the criteria of Title 1, a school district must have no less than 40% of its students from low-income households.
As of the 2023/2024 school year, the dress code has been changed to jeans and solid color plain shirts due to the financial challenge of purchasing school uniforms.
Clothes and Coats for Cuties provided 125 brand new uniforms to students at Cloverleaf Elementary in August 2022. Right before Christmas break, 39 coats were provided. We will provide uniforms on an as-needed basis during the school year and coats during the winter months. The winter of 2022, 75 coats were donated to the students at Cloverleaf. In July of 2023 we provided 102 uniforms to Cloverleaf Elementary and 98 uniforms to Green Valley Elementary. On August 7, 2023, we delivered 100 uniforms to the Principal, Assistant Principal, and the Counselor at Woodland Acres Elementary School. We want to provide for 50 students at each school. In the future, hopefully we can provide for more students at each school.
In the fall of 2022, we delivered 39 coats to Ms. Garcia.
It is time to buy coats for 160+ students for the 2023/2024 school year for Woodland Acres, Cloverleaf, and Green Valley Elementary schools. Please donate today if you can.
Commitment, transparency and giving.
These three values stand at the center of Clothes & Coats for Cuties. We wholeheartedly commit to the work we do with passion and dedication, transparently sharing it with our community and inviting others to take part.
No student should have to wear ill-fitting clothes to school or be cold because they don't have a coat. We aim to help them feel better about themselves and their future, giving them hope. On top of this, we challenge ourselves to think creatively and think outside the box to make this happen. This drives the success and future of Clothes & Coats for Cuties.
